Viewpoints

Reflection:
It was tricky for the snail's viewpoint because I have to lay down on the ground and I can't really see whats going on.
It was easy for the eye view because I just have to take a photo on my own eye view.
Next I have to practise my snail's view point.

Daily 5

LI:   I am learning how to participate in Daily 5 Reading rotations.

SC:   I can follow the task requirements for each rotation.
I can be self-managing.
  • Read to self
  • Read to someone
  • Listen to Reading
  • Word Work
  • Work on Writing
  • Conference with Teacher

My Reflection:

What helps my learning is that I can have a choice to choose what I want to do.
What I find tricky is I have to sit in one place for 20 minutes.
Something I am working on improving is practise sitting in one place.

My African Praise Poem

African Praise Poem.
How do I feel about myself?
The African culture is steeped in oral tradition, and the traditional way
for Africans to introduce themselves in a new situation.
IALT write a traditional Praise Poem, to introduce myself to the class.
Success Criteria:
I will explore the subject of African praise poetry,
I will take risks, and use imagery to reveal myself in poetic form.
I will follow the structure of a typical African Praise poem.
I will perform my poem to an audience, maybe using drums.
Structure:
Line 1 -        Introducing myself.

Line 2 –           Introduction to my family and heritage.
Line 3 -        Animal metaphor
Line 4 –         Nature metaphor
Line 5 –         Personality and Qualities
Chorus -           Refrain describing my talents, co-written by my peers.

Reflection:
I learnt how to write a African Praise Poem.
It was hard when I  was writing the animal metaphor.
Next time I have to search for interesting words and make it more like me.

Welcome

My name is Sylvia. I go to Elm Park School and I'm in room 19 with Mrs Taljaard. I'm doing a blog so that I can post my work and get feedback. I enjoy badminton, art and maths. This year I hope I can participate in ICT and art enrichment. I'm looking forward to having lots of visitors  and reading your comments.

I am excited about going to Camp M.E.R.C and all the things happening this year.
